About
"I like the creativity of hair styling. It's like painting or drawing. It’s shaping things, it’s working with my hands. I like to make things, and doing hair is making something."
In her three-hour interview, Judy Crown discusses her early television work as a hair stylist, including work on The Starland Vocal Band, starring David Letterman. She describes styling hair for the infamous made-for-television movie The Day After, and becoming the regular hair stylist for The Dukes of Hazzard. She recounts styling hair for several shows, including Designing Women, Murphy Brown, My Sister Sam, and others. Crown recounts her long stint as hair stylist for Seinfeld, and working with the cast including Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Michael Richards. She recalls later career jobs working on Bye Bye Birdie, CSI, and The Riches. She concludes by talking about various hair styling challenges, and advice to aspiring hair stylists. Adrienne Faillace conducted the interview on April 29, 2016 in Shadow Hills, CA.
