Remembering Maxine Stuart

We're sad to hear of the passing of actress Maxine Stuart, who died of natural causes on June 6, 2013 at the age of 94. Stuart appeared in some of the earliest experiemental television broadcasts for NBC, and went on to performances on Philco Television Playhouse and in the memorable Twilight Zone episode, "Eye of the Beholder." She enjoyed a role as a series regular on Slattery's People, and received an Emmy nomination for her guest role as "Kevin Arnold's" piano teacher on The Wonder Years. I think the closing night of “The Glass Menagerie” that I did downtown at the Inner City Cultural Center. I did it I think for six weeks - I’m not sure what the run was then. But closing night, I found it. I found it and that was thrilling, and I think that’s probably my favorite.

On how she'd like to be remembered:

Decent. I think I’d like to be remembered has having been fairly moral in my life and that I didn’t cheat anybody - or if I did, they were a big business person so it didn’t count…
