Remembering Walter Bernstein
We’re sad to learn that writer Walter Bernstein has passed away at the age of 101. Bernstein served in World War II and began his writing career in Hollywood before working in live television in New York City. Blacklisted in the 1950s, he wrote under pseudonyms and used fronts in order to continue working during this difficult period. Following the McCarthy era, he wrote television and movies, including The Front, which was based on his experiences being blacklisted. Bernstein continued to write and teach well into his 90s.
